Hui Hoʻomalu’s 2020 Bake Sale

Our Hui Hoʻomalu foster care licensing program is putting on their annual Bake Sale and Silent Auction this Friday, February 14th.

From 7:15AM to 1:00PM, people can stop by their tables in the second floor atrium of the Dole Cannery building in Honolulu and purchase a variety of treats, gift certificates and other goodies, as well as bid on a number of auction items.

This year’s items include:

2 day/ 1 night stay at The Modern Honolulu
Sunday brunch certificate for 2 at Hoku’s at The Kahala Hotel & Resort
Guest passes to Sea Life Park
Big Island Candies gift basket
Whole Foods gift cards
And much more!

Don’t miss your chance to grab some wonderful last-minute treats and gifts and give back to a good cause! ALL proceeds from this event go to events supporting youth in foster care and foster families in Hawaiʻi nei.

A Bake Sale For Hawaiʻi’s Foster Keiki

A partnership of several different Hawaiʻi foster care agencies (Department of Human Services, Catholic Charities Hawaii, Family Programs Hawaii, and Partners In Development Foundation) came together in support of the state’s foster keiki (children) and their families. This is the fouth year that Partners In Development Foundation’s Hui Hoʻomalu program has been annually participating in organizing bake sale events to raise money to help resource caregivers (formerly known as foster parents). The purpose of the bake sale is to raise awareness, seek financial support for events and to recruit more resource caregivers for foster children in Hawaiʻi. All of the money raised from the event will go towards supporting statewide events for Hawaiʻi’s resource families and youths in foster care.

The bake sale event takes place each year at the Dole Cannery second floor atrium where many businesses in the building come out to support the keiki. The event has really grown over the years and now also includes a silent auction and rummage sale. Total sales from the event this year generated over $7,000 to support foster families in Hawaiʻi.

Hui Ho’omalu Bake Sale

Chocolates, cakes, and cookies oh my. That’s just a few of the homemade goodies that were sold at the Hui Ho‘omalu Bake Sale on June 24 at the Dole Cannery. There was also a silent auction and rummage sale that was comprised of all donated items such as big screen T.V.s, Jake Shimabukuro signed ukulele, homemade jewelry, Paul Brown gift packs, and much more.

Along with monetary donations, the total amount fundraised: $5,000! 100% of the proceeds will be going towards events for Resource Families and foster youth state wide.

Mahalo goes out to ALL the agencies that pulled together to make this such a successful event. Our thanks goes out to Department of Human Services, EPIC ‘Ohana Inc., Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, Foster Care Training Committee, and Hawai‘i Adaptive Permanency Alliance for their donations, support, and volunteer help.

We want to give a special mahalo to Hawai‘i Information Services (HIS) for partnering with us. They did mini pre-bake sale fundraisers, solicited and obtained donations, provided baked goods to sell, ran the silent auction and rummage sale, and provided 100% of their staff to participate and volunteer for the event.
