{"id":18676,"date":"2023-11-16T17:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-17T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pidf.org\/?p=18676"},"modified":"2023-12-01T11:38:46","modified_gmt":"2023-12-01T21:38:46","slug":"ka-pa%ca%bbalana-earns-national-naeyc-accreditation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pidf.org\/ka-pa%ca%bbalana-earns-national-naeyc-accreditation\/","title":{"rendered":"Ka Pa\u02bbalana Earns National NAEYC Accreditation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Program recognized among the top in the nation by earning accreditation<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(KAPOLEI, HI) \u2013 Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF)<\/strong> <strong>Ka Pa\u02bbalana Homeless Family Education Program <\/strong>located<strong> <\/strong>in Kapolei has earned accreditation from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.naeyc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Association for the Education of Young Children<\/a> (NAEYC)\u2014the world&#8217;s largest organization working on behalf of young children.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NAEYC Accreditation is a rigorous and transformative quality-improvement system that uses a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naeyc.org\/accreditation\/early-learning\/standards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">set of 10 research-based standards<\/a> to collaborate with early education programs to recognize and drive quality-improvement in high-quality early learning environments. &#8220;This was a major endeavor and accomplishment and benefitted the entire program by this continued effort to ensure po\u02bbokela (excellence) in all aspects of program staffing, curriculum, and practices,\u201d said Terry Nakamura, PIDF Interim Vice President of Operations and Program Manager at Ka Pa\u02bbalana Homeless Family Education Program.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1173\" height=\"1067\" src=\"https:\/\/pidf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18687\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pidf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image.png 1173w, https:\/\/pidf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-768x699.png 768w, https:\/\/pidf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-600x546.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1173px) 100vw, 1173px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Ka Pa\u02bbalana provides comprehensive family education programming for homeless\/at-risk families with young children on the west coast of O\u02bbahu and East Hawai\u02bbi Island. Annually, the Ka Pa\u02bbalana program serves about 400 children ages birth to five and their caregivers by preparing children for school, equipping caregivers to be their child\u2019s first teachers, and empowering adults to move toward self-sufficiency and give back to their community. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ka Pa\u02bbalana first earned NAEYC accreditation in 2013, and every five years, pursues reaccreditation through an extensive self-study and quality-improvement process, followed by an on-site visit by NAEYC Assessors to ensure that the program meets each of the ten program standards, and hundreds of corresponding individual criteria. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 30 years since NAEYC Accreditation was established, it has become a widely recognized sign of high-quality early childhood education.
