Zippy\u2019s annual \u201cMahalo May\u201d campaign kicks off on Monday, April 29<sup>th<\/sup>. \u201cMahalo May,\u201d is a month where Zippy\u2019s gives special thanks to nine total local non-profit organizations&#8211;five non-profits in Hawaii and four in Las Vegas that are dedicated to supporting and enriching the lives of the Hawaii and Las Vegas communities. Each week a portion of the proceeds from sales of the Kokua Pac will be donated to each selected organization during their respective week. The five Hawaii organizations and their designated weeks are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 1, April 29-May 5: <strong>Partners in Development Foundation<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Partners in Development Foundation draws on \u02bbike kupuna (ancestral wisdom) and knowledge, to meet the current challenges facing Hawai\u02bbi. They serve the needs of young keiki, their caregivers, and economically vulnerable youth and families in the Hawaiian community to overcome systematic disparities and historical trauma. Their programs are guided by time-tested values and practices that honor people and place in caring for our islands and communities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 2, May 6-12: <strong>Hawaii Chamber Music Festival&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hawaii Chamber Music Festival is dedicated to lifting the hearts and talents of Hawaii\u2019s incredible youth musicians through positive mentorship and musicianship. World class classical artists collaborate with Hawaii\u2019s most talented youth to provide a world-class learning and listening experience for all.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 3, May 13-19: <strong>Hale Makua Health Services<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hale Makua is devoted to helping Maui\u2019s elders live their best lives. Hale Makua believes in helping Maui\u2019s frail elderly and disabled individuals live vibrant, fulfilling lives in their care homes and within the community. This is another way that Zippy\u2019s is assisting Maui\u2019s on-going rebuilding efforts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 4, May 20-26: <strong>Aloha Diaper Bank<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diaper need is a growing concern in the U.S. as one in two families struggle to afford enough diapers, leaving infants vulnerable to health risks. Moreover, three in five parents miss work or school due to diaper expenses, affecting their access to childcare services. No government assistance program pays for diapers. Aloha Diaper Bank\u2019s mission is to address this issue, ensuring every child has access to clean diapers, promoting their well-being, and supporting parents in providing a healthy environment for their little ones.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Week 5, May 27-June 2:&nbsp;<strong>HUGS (Help, Understanding, and Group Support)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HUGS is a nonprofit organization providing emotional and financial support to Hawaii families with children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening diagnosis.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kokua Pac consists of Zippy\u2019s famous, Korean fried chicken, Portuguese sausage, half a red-hot dog, and one slice of SPAM, all over a bed of white rice, and costs $10.50 for takeout in Honolulu and Las Vegas. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u>About Zippy\u2019s Restaurants:<\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brothers Francis and Charles Higa founded Zippy\u2019s Restaurants more than 58 years ago on South King Street in urban Honolulu.
