An &#8220;Initial Seed Deposit&#8221; is granted by the KA\u02bbA program to start each Children&#8217;s Savings Account. To be accepted into the program, families must:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Be currently enrolled and actively participating in Family Child Interaction Learning (FCIL) programs with INPEACE or PIDF, \u02bbAha P\u016bnana Leo, or a participating Hawaiian-focused Charter School.<\/li>\n<li>Complete an enrollment form and submit to a program staff.<\/li>\n<li>Attend a mandatory orientation session.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t<h2>\n\t\t\tWho can apply?\n\t\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pidf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/divider_2.png\" alt=\"Who can apply?\" \/>\n\t<p>Families currently enrolled and actively participating in FCIL Programs of INPEACE, PIDF, \u02bbAha P\u016bnana Leo, and participating Hawaiian-focused Charter Preschools, are welcome to apply to the KA\u02bbA program. Preference is given to participants who meet two or more of the following criteria:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t<ul>\n<li>Native Hawaiian<\/li>\n<li>Family member unemployed or underemployed due to COVID-19<\/li>\n<li>Household income at 200% of Poverty Level for Hawai\u02bbi or below<\/li>\n<li>Homeless<\/li>\n<li>Special needs child<\/li>\n<li>Foster Family<\/li>\n<li>Teen Parent<\/li>\n<li>Single Parent<\/li>\n<li>Orphaned Child<\/li>\n<li>Incarcerated Parent\/Legal Guardian<\/li>\n<li>Kupuna raising grandchildren<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t<p>Families are required to maintain a 60% or more attendance rate and involvement in their early education program to receive incentive deposits. <strong>Applications for Children&#8217;s Savings Accounts must be submitted by FCIL\/\u02bbAha P\u016bnana Leo\/participating Hawaiian-focused Charter Preschool Staff only. KA\u02bbA will not accept applications directly from participants.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\t\t<h3>\n\t\t\tProgram components\n\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pidf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/divider_dashed_white.png\" alt=\"Program components\" \/>\n\t\t\t\tCoaching Sessions\n\t\t\t\tFinancial Capabilities Workshops\n\t\t\t\tPersonal Deposits\n\t\t\t\tAttendance Rate\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCoaching Sessions\n\t\t\t\t<p>KA&#8217;A participants meet regularly with their Case Manager\/Life Coach to provide high-touch wrap-around coaching, that supports short and long-term financial and educational goals. These coaches create a safe space for their participants by ensuring the values of <em>aloha<\/em> and <em>m\u0101<\/em><em>lama<\/em> are experienced throughout every coaching session. <\/p>\n<p>Discussions are led by the participants, and the coaches will provide community resources and information to better equip families for success. Throughout the KA\u02bbA experience, families build meaningful relationships with their KA\u02bbA Life Coach.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFinancial Capabilities Workshops\n\t\t\t\t<p>In collaboration with INPEACE Ho\u02bboulu Waiwai Program, Financial Capabilities Workshops teach participants the financial literacy knowledge they need to strengthen their money management skills in areas such as; creating spending plans, protecting income, maximizing financial resources, estate planning, and more. These workshops are culturally relevant and interweave Native Hawaiian values, mo\u02bbolelo (history\/stories), and \u02bb\u014dlelo no\u02bbeau (Hawaiian teachings\/learnings).<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPersonal Deposits\n\t\t\t\t<p>American Savings Bank is one of the largest banking institutions serving the State of Hawai&#8217;i with a long track record of support and partnership with community partners including Partners in Development Foundation (PIDF). ASB is the current Financial Institution Partner for the KA&#8217;A Program.
