In an effort to promote scientific inquiry and engineering, families of the Hale Wai Vista, Hale Makana O N\u0101nakuli and Wai\u2018anae preschool sites of Ka Pa\u2018alana toured Ka\u02bbala Cultural Center in Wai\u2018anae valley. Hawaiian culture and practices were brought to life as families walked the grounds of Ka\u02bbala Cultural Center. A sense of respect and appreciation for Hawaiian culture could be felt as Anakala Eric Enos shared the history of Mount Ka\u02bbala. Standing at 4,010 feet above sea level, Mount Ka\u02bbala serves as a representation of aina momona (nourished landscape) and ahupua\u02bba for po\u02bbe kahiko (people of old). Families toured the lo\u02bbi, and keiki were given nets to explore the pond as their feet sunk deep into the mud. A food demonstration was performed as the staff of Ka\u02bbala Farms extracted taro from the lo\u02bbi to ku\u02bbi (pound) for tasting.
